The Islands of the Bahamas
The Bahamas are actually an archipelago of islands, 15 to 20 are populated and receive tourists. The islands have a wide range of features: the glitter of a Las Vegas-style revue in Freeport, a New England colonial style village on Harbour Island; the nightlife of Nassau; gambling on Paradise Island; sailing, diving, swimming, and seeing giant iguanas in the Exumas. The Bahamas have some of the area's biggest and most famous resorts, as well as quiet and peaceful islands where visitors can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Both Freeport on Grand Bahama Island and Nassau on New Providence Island are just a short flight from Miami or Fort Lauderdale. A number of the other islands are also easily accessable.
